Celebrating 20 Years of GSF in Chicago

Evanston, IL (September 22, 2017) - The 2017 GSCA International Conference marks a momentous occasion in the history of Giant Screen Films and D3D Cinema. In addition to representing the 20th Anniversary of the founding of GSF, it takes place in the city that both GSF and D3D were founded and have called home for the past two decades.

Since its formation in 1997, GSF has become a titan in the industry, producing and distributing a vast library of groundbreaking and award-winning films and in 2009 founding D3D Cinema, a pioneer of the digital cinema revolution with an installation base of over 50 institutional cinemas. The GSF and D3D Cinema teams are excited to present a number of new films at this year’s conference and exhibit the latest in digital cinema technology and VR experiences.

GSF’s film presentations this year will consist of screenings of their 2017 film lineup of Aircraft Carriers, Incredible Predators, and Mysteries of China as well as sneak peeks of upcoming 2018 releases Oceans: The Blue Planet, Cuba, and Hidden Pacific. All screenings will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday at Navy Pier.

D3D Cinema and Christie will present their revolutionary Laser CineDome technology at the Museum of Science and Industry’s Giant Dome Theater on Thursday morning. The cutting-edge digital cinema system was installed at MSI earlier this year, opening to visitors on Memorial Day to great acclaim from both audiences and local media outlets.

Finally, D3D is bringing Birdly® VR to the GSCA trade show on Thursday evening. Birdly®, created by SOMNIACS, is a one-of-a-kind full-body virtual reality birdflight simulator that seamlessly combines robotics and simulation technology to deliver an experience like none before. D3D has installed Birdly units at GSCA member institutions such as the Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose and the Houston Museum of Natural Science in 2017 and looks forward to bringing Birdly to the wider museum and attraction market. Learn more about Birdly at www.birdlyvr.com and stop by the booth to experience the pioneering VR sensation that everyone has been buzzing about!
