What's New With Birdly VR

Evanston, IL (Oct 19, 2017) - Birdly VR is the virtual reality thrill ride that has the museum and attractions industry abuzz. Referred to by CNET as the “hands-down the best VR experience yet,” Birdly, distributed by D3D Cinema, is rolling out across North America – including appearances at the following trade shows this fall:

  • ASTC Conference – San Jose, CA - Oct 21-24
  • IAAPA Attractions Expo – Orlando, FL - Nov 13-17

2017 has been an exciting year for Birdly, with new installations at science centers, zoos and museums, and leading venues such as:

  • The Tech Museum of Innovation - San Jose, CA
  • National Aviary - Pittsburgh, PA
  • Houston Museum of Natural Science

In addition to continuing its focus on the nonprofit institutional market, D3D is expanding the rollout of Birdly into commercial and attraction segments for 2018.

In the coming months, D3D, in partnership with SOMNIACS, will premiere new Birdly experiences for the platform – new cities, a dinosaur show (pterosaur over Jurassic landscape) and an underwater coral reef show (manta ray & sea turtle) with ocean conservation messaging, in conjunction with the D3D's theatrical release of BBC Earth’s tent pole film, Oceans: The Blue Planet. Birdly is a remarkable vehicle to freely explore any virtual environment, a full-body controller that provides its pilots with a truly memorable flight through photorealistic (and customized) VR worlds.

In addition to sales, leases, and daily rentals, D3D is now pleased to offer revenue sharing and operating partnership models for select museums, zoos, aquariums and attractions. Birdly is truly a one-of-a-kind VR technology that is proven to draw a crowd and generate new revenue in excess of tens of thousands of dollars per month (per unit) between daytime tickets and evening event rentals.

About Birdly® VR
Birdly® is a one-of-a-kind full-body virtual reality (VR) bird flight simulator coupling robotics and simulation technology to deliver an experience like none before. Unlike a common flight simulator that requires a joystick, mouse and/or numerous buttons, Birdly® operators command their flight experience instinctively with arms and hands – movements correlated to the flapping of wings and manipulation of primary feathers for speed, altitude and navigation. Each input is reflected in the virtual flight processor and returned as physical feedback through pitch, roll and heave movements. The result of Birdly’s® precise sensory-motor coupling – including headwind simulation, 3D audio, and visual impact – is an exhilaration that is simply breathtaking. www.birdlyvr.com
