New Birdly Experience Jurassic Flight Draws Big Crowds in Cincinnati and Las Vegas, Wins Award in Amsterdam

Evanston, IL (January 24, 2019) – D3D Cinema, in partnership with SOMNIACS, is pleased to announce the widespread release of Jurassic Flight – the latest virtual reality (VR) adventure for the Birdly VR platform. Developed in consultation with leading paleontologists, Jurassic Flight enables Birdly users to take to the prehistoric skies and interact with iconic dinosaurs of the Late Jurassic Era. Along with winning the bronze Halo Award for creative achievement at VR Days in Amsterdam and featuring at CES in Las Vegas, D3D has enjoyed the successful deployment of two new Birdlys running Jurassic Flight at the recently revamped dinosaur hall in the Cincinnati Museum Center’s Museum of Natural History and Science.

“The pair of Birdlys running Jurassic Flight has been a huge hit at the new dinosaur hall,” said Dave Duszynski, President, Mercury Museum Services. “Birdly truly is a premium immersive experience – far beyond any other VR we’ve seen – and Jurassic Flight is a wonderful complement to the dinosaur gallery and also the adjacent science interactive zone. It’s not surprising that crowds have really responded to Birdly. We’ve been operating at over 50% capacity since opening, with more than 5,500 riders flying with Birdly, and we don’t see it slowing down anytime soon.”

“The Cincinnati Museum Center is one the preeminent institutions in the country and their two-and-a-half years in the making relaunch was highly anticipated not just by their community, but by the museum industry as a whole,” said Mark Katz, SVP of Film Distribution & Theater Development for D3D. “The new dinosaur hall is state-of-the-art, and the fact that they reopened with two new V2 Birdly machines running Jurassic Flight is a testament to the quality of the Birdly experience as well as to Cincinnati Museum Center’s dedication to providing cutting-edge experiences for their community. With this emerging pipeline of content, led by Jurassic Flight and an upcoming underwater experience that we will soon be announcing, we are hopeful that museums looking to bring premium VR experiences to their visitors will join the Birdly family, similar to how the giant screen technology rolled out back in the day.”
